Play To Cure: Genes In Space
Day 123
Downloaded the Genes In Space Cancer Research game and played it a number of times.
In 2013 Cancer Research along with Google, Amazon, Facebook, a number of gamers, designers and scientists developed a game to get ordinary people involved in analysing genetic data for signs of cancer, a job that would usually take scientists hours. The game involves flying a space ship through space and collecting space dust or Element Alpha; in real life terms as you play the game you are tagging faults in genetic material which can be analysed and will help scientists to understand more about the nature of cancer and to develop lifesaving treatments. The game is designed to be played on a mobile phone and can be done when you are out and about. Awesome work!
