Be Kind to Yourself

Day 29

Today I am going to start the process of being kind to my myself. I am not going to drink alcohol for a month, do more exercise and stop eating junk food. I am hoping for more energy, less fat and more money in my pocket. I will miss KFC though :( Unfortunately, we have been unable to climb any mountains since January as my husband went on a 21 mile walk from Devizes to Bath and then slipped over in the pub toilet (only one mile away from home) and sprained his ankle. Hopefully we will be able to do some soon.

I am sure you have all heard of Dry January and good on you if you did it! I suppose I will be going for a Dry February then; I don't think it matters when you decide to look after yourself.

I have read some conflicting information about Dry January. The campaign was run by Alcohol Concern. It was widely promoted and endorsed by a number of key agencies and yet there are some professionals who argue that drinking in moderation all year round is the best approach and that taking one month off will not curb the effects binge style drinking the rest of the year. To be honest if people come out of Dry January thinking about their alcohol use I would imagine the result would be a moderate approach the rest of the year and if not then January is at least one less month that they are damaging themselves.

So here is to Dry February!
