Support Babies In Mind

Day 82

Donated the price of my lunch to the Mental Health Foundation's Babies In Mind Project

Research has shown that babies whose parent/carer does not develop a bond with them are at higher risk of developing mental health problems than those who feels strongly connected to the person that cares for them. The research states that interacting with a baby, responding to their emotional needs, smiling and reassuring them helps their brains to develop. The Babies in Mind Project is attempting to work with vulnerable families across the UK to ensure that they understand the need to create a nurturing bond with their child in order to prevent mental health issues developing as they grow up. They work with people in pregnancy and the first 18 months to help them develop the bond but in a non-judgmental and empowering way.

I like this preventative attitude to mental health and I hope that the project gets to work with as many vulnerable people they can over the UK.
