Day 114
Today I went shopping for the Live Below The Line Challenge. I struggled to keep within the budget of £5 and even some of the items in the picture will be halved. The menu will be:
Monday
Porridge with water
Tinned vegetable soup and bread
Rice/sweet potato and chickpea curry
Tuesday
Porridge with water
Leftovers from Monday
Tomato and chilli pasta
Wednesday
Porridge with water
Leftovers from Tuesday
Eggs on toast
Thursday
Porridge with water
Beans and sausages on toast
Pasta with frozen vegetables and chilli
Friday
Porridge
No lunch
Beans on toast
The challenge is making me acutely aware of how hard it is to live on very little money. With so many people in the UK and beyond having to do this, things must change. I am already feeling quite daunted by the week ahead. Whenever I try to go on a diet or cut down, I often find myself obsessing about food, especially cakes, and then eating more. So this will really test me. Let's see how I get on... On a positive note I will be looking for some creative ways to get food. My friends and I were talking about going foraging for wild garlic and berries. We will see how we get on...
