Donate To Fareshare
Donated money to Fareshare.
The statistic that almost half of the food produced in the UK is wasted is shocking when so many people are living in poverty here. There are, however, some amazing organisations out there working to ensure that food isn't wasted. One of those organisations is Fareshare. Fareshare work with the food industry to ensure that food that would have otherwise been wasted is distributed to charities and groups that help vulnerable people in the UK such as homeless shelters, day centres, addiction centres, lunch clubs and refugee centres. The night shelter I work with use Fareshare and it has proven to be amazingly valuable. Thousands of tonnes of food is wasted in the UK due to minor packaging errors, out of date promotions and discontinued lines. Fareshare mainly rely on volunteers to distribute the food that is donated to them by supermarkets and manufacturers and they charge charities and groups helping vulnerable people a small delivery fee. I think it is an amazing thing! Tonight I donated money to their amazing work.
