The Taiwanese Vegetable Seller Turned Philanthropist

Today my colleague pointed me in the direction of an article about a beautiful woman in Taiwan (see the article here). Basically, Chen Shu-chu works all the hours she possibly can on her vegetable stall, lives on the bare minimum and donates everything else to the poor. Incredible! I am so inspired by this. Her difficult upbringing and the loss of her family members combined were the catalyst for her wanting to help other poor people. Apparently, over the last two decades she has donated the equivalent of £210,000 and has managed to bring in many more donations to projects she has helped as a result of her overwhelming kindness. Chen Shu-chu was selected as one of the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine in 2010; Reader's Digest named her Asian of the Year and Forbes Asia selected her as one of their 48 heroes of philanthropy. Yet she is still so incredibly humble. Amazing!
